Genesee Health Plan Millage Renewal to Appear on November 2018 Ballot

Over the last 17 years, Genesee Health Plan (GHP) has helped thousands of Genesee County hard-working adults, families and seniors gain access to affordable basic health care coverage.

We are excited to share that on Monday, June 11, 2018, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved placing the Genesee Health Plan Millage Renewal on the Nov. 6, 2018 ballot.

We applaud the Board of Commissioners for their leadership and continued support of the Genesee Health Plan.

GHP funds the health care coverage it provides through a special county-wide millage that was first passed by voters in 2006 and renewed again in 2012.

We believe it’s important to take a proactive approach to health care. GHP covers preventive health care services including doctor visits, outpatient mental health services, prescription drugs, labs, dental, mammograms and cancer screenings.

Here’s what you need to know about the millage renewal:

  • One hundred percent of the money raised from the millage is spent on direct health care services for patients.

  • Renewing this millage means keeping our tax rates the same as they are today.

  • To ensure taxpayer funds are spent wisely and transparently, all millage dollars are publicly disclosed and reported, and go through an independent financial audit every year. To view GHP’s transparency statement, click here.

Genesee County voters will have the opportunity to renew the Genesee Health Plan Millage on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. Renewing this millage will ensure we can continue to provide affordable, high-quality health care coverage for Genesee County families, neighbors and seniors for years to come.
